Not Greatly Moved (Ps 62)

Truly my soul silently waits for God; from Him comes my salvation. He only is my rock and my salvation; He is my defense; I shall not be greatly moved”.(vs1-2)

Because God is my salvation, my rock, and my strength, I will not fear being moved (vs1-2). He promises, “I shall not be greatly moved”. I will be assaulted, but not conquered. I will have trouble, but it won't overpower the grace that comes to me. The believers hope is in God, and if He is your hope, then you'll have your desired end. You will be faithful, you will overcome sin, and you will be rewarded for your hope. God has called us to TRUST in and lean upon Him, and He will surely reward, as He promised. No one BELIEVES in Him, and then is put to shame. Every sinner may call upon Him and be saved, assuredly.

Secondly, man fights against Jesus to his own destruction (vs3-4). We read, “How long will you be frantic upon a man? You shall be slain, all of you, like a leaning wall and a tottering fence”. Men think they're slick, wise, and sneaky, but they don't know that God sees the heart because man's pride has made him blind. He fights Almighty strength, rejects mercy, and continually trusts in a tottering fence and a broken down wall (himself), which can't protect in the end. It isn't possible that so weak a foe would defeat God and destroy the believer's hope. His antichrist status reveals how foolish and how easily destroyed he is.

Man is not to be feared or flattered. Paul says, “For neither at any time did we use flattering words, as you know, nor a cloak for covetousness – God is witness” (1 Thess 2:5). Man is responsible to obey God, and all opposition will lose in the end.

Finally, use the refuge that you have in Christ (vs5-12). He says, “Trust in Him at all times, you people; pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us”. Don't be lazy. Don't come to Him falsely saying, “Help me to sleep while the house is on fire”, but ask Him for grace to REST while you labor, to have your eyes on Christ as you get power to do God's will.

Don't be foolish and miss out on your strength. He says, “Do not trust in oppression, nor vainly hope in robbery; if riches increase, do not set your heart on them. God has spoken once, twice I have heard this: that power belongs to God. Also to You, O Lord, belongs mercy; for You render to each one according to his work” Don't go into battle with a toothbrush, when you have a machine gun ready. Go to God, ask Him for real help, and trust Him enough to do it – to change your behavior, to give you peace and joy, and to bring you home safely in the end. God is ready and willing, He loves to help, and He is desperately needed. Use Him at His command. Call upon Him according to His continual instruction. Do what He says and bring it to Him, so you'll be saved.
