Then He said to the disciples, "The days will come when you will desire to see one of the days of the Son of Man, and you will not see it. And they will say to you, ‘Look here!’ or ‘Look there!’ Do not go after them or follow them. For as the lightning that flashes out of one part under heaven shines to the other part under heaven, so also the Son of Man will be in His day. But first He must suffer many things and be rejected by this generation. And as it was in the days of Noah, so it will be also in the days of the Son of Man: They ate, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all.(vs22-27)
The wrath of God is coming, and the world will end (vs22-30). Jesus said, “As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be also in the days of the Son of Man... the flood came and destroyed them all”. It seems laughable to many, outdated, and too drastic a response by God, but it's true, revealed in scripture, and it's according to what God's done already. Thus, you can't succeed blocking it out of your mind. God destroyed the world in Noah's day, rained fire and brimstone on Sodom and Gomorrah, and the Son of God came down to save us from perishing because wrath is real, we deserve it, and it will come as a thief in the night, catching many unprepared.
Plan ahead. Find refuge in Christ, forgiveness, and Holy Spirit power. Plan for the Judgment, be wise, and live forever. He tells us this to warn.
Secondly, if you want salvation, then love not the world and give up on having it (vs31-37). He says, “Remember Lot's wife. Whoever seeks to save his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life will preserve it”. You can't have Christ's salvation and the world's pleasures. You may have only one, and since the world is perishing and temporary, choose eternal good. Lot's wife had warning, but she had no faith, so she loved this dying world that God hates, and her soul will suffer wrath. She refused what Christians do, which is cut off our right hand and pluck out our right eye, considering no sacrifice too great for Christ, surrendering all to Him (Mark 9:43-48). We live as subject to Him in all things. By forgiveness, God's love, and the Holy Spirit's power, we live obtaining mercy. Therefore, receive the salvation God gives, and love Him eternally as number 1, with no number 2 in sight. The option is death eternal or life eternal, and it is unwise and foolish to forsake salvation FOR damnation (Jer 2:13)! Lay down rebellion and receive reconciliation's pleasure, safety, and reward.
Thirdly, if we continue with God, believing Him and coming to Him to fulfill His promised salvation, then He will (Luke 18:1-8). He tells the parable of the unjust judge who refused to hear a poor widow out of sympathy or godliness, but he did hear and finally answer, because of her persistence. He said, “Though I do not fear God nor regard man, yet because this widow troubles me I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me”. Likewise, those who approach the righteous God will be heard in our desire to live godly and to have the wicked punished in the end. Christ said, “Hear what the unjust judge said. And shall God not avenge His own elect who cry out day and night to Him, though He bears long with them? I tell you that he will avenge them speedily.” He will save us eventually, He will be faithful to us now, and we'll be favored in the end. He doesn't deny the saints nor leave us helpless, but He hears and answers prayer, delivering us in due time. Thus, we wait on and seek Him, who is our only hope. Therefore, know that God saves as promised and give Him no rest, relying fully on His saving power, taking nothing into your hand, waiting on your reward, as you do His will. It will pay off. You'll get salvation, guaranteed.
