“To Those That Ask Him” (Luke 10:10-11:13)

"So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. "For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. "If a son asks for bread from any father among you, will he give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent instead of a fish? "Or if he asks for an egg, will he offer him a scorpion? "If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!"

The Son is mandatory (Luke 10:13-14). If we don't believe on Him, then we'll die in our sins, having heard and spurned mercy, suffering a worse fate in hell than those who've never heard the gospel. Christ said, “Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you Bethsaida! For if the mighty works which were done in you had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago, sitting in sackcloth and ashes. But it will be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the judgment than for you”. It is imperative that God's loving warning is headed. He tells us ahead of time, so that we may know the disease is serious and get the only remedy there is. I know it is hard to deny yourself, for this is salvation, but He forgives the sin and gives self-denial. He gives you freely God's ability to obey, God's joy to enjoy, and God's heaven as your eternal reward. It is WORTH trusting Christ when wrath is the alternative.

Secondly, God has made Christ the way of escaping wrath, for He is the answer for sin (Luke 10:25-29, 37). If we have no sin, if we are holy and have not sinned in word, thought, or deed, then we're pure and need no salvation. Christ said, “You have answered rightly; do [the law] and you will live”. We stand upright by ourselves. Yet, if we have sinned, as we did in Adam, and if we sin repeatedly, as we do now, then we need Christ to atone our sins, Christ to love God for us, and Christ to be the reason that we're accepted. Our impotence must be paid by Him, and then, trusting Him produces the life change, as we live accepted of God, learning to love others. God gives us righteousness in standing and behavior as we believe on Him who loves sinners.

Thirdly, get the Holy Spirit CONFIDENTLY (Luke 11:9-13). He is promised. I was down, tempted, struggling, but I read the freeness of this entreaty. He says, “ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find”. He says, “If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him”.

God will give you the power, joy, satisfaction, and freedom that His Son died to give. He won't tell you “no” for any reason, if you come to Him, patiently waiting, trusting His promise. Now, I may be tempted, but I will get power supernatural to not only conquer but also be comforted. I can do all things because I do have God available to me by prayer.

Finally, brothers, (1) know that trusting Christ is imperative, the most important thing in the world. (2) You can't stand before God apart from Him, trusting and obeying His word, because you can't stand on your own, unprotected. (3) But, He'll give you and me the Spirit to do all that He commands, and then He'll bless us with peace, and then He'll bring us to heaven to have eternal pleasure.
