“And Noah went in, and his sons, and his wife, and his sons’ wives with him, into the ark, because of the waters of the flood.” (vs7)
Read: Gen 7:1-9
Because of sin we come to Christ, so don't be ashamed to enter in. The gospel is a saving message for sinners. As worthy of wrath as we are, we come to who He is, which is able to save.
First, this “into the ark” is the life of faith; it pictures coming to Christ and abiding in Him, believing His way, living His way, and being rewarded by Him. The same ark you're trusting now shall carry you through to the end; it won't be a sudden Christ; it is the Christ you've believed down here. 2 Thess 1:10 says, “When He shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all them that believe (because our testimony among you was believed) in that Day.”, so that faith NOW will be rewarded with salvation then.
We MISTAKINGLY disconnect faith and works too much. I'm saved by FAITH alone, but the faith is NEVER alone; it gives and supposes obedience. The saving FAITH that justifies is the same faith that sanctifies. The faith that trusts Christ without works is the faith that produces the devotion and enables us to forsake all.
Faith is not empty; it is the day by day that prepares for Judgment.
Secondly, Noah and the elect got into the ark BECAUSE of the flood, so be humble. If we are in Christ, it is NOT because we are good or strong; it is because God saved us by grace, and we need Him because of weakness and wickedness in us. We can't preach Christ proudly, and be God blessed. We must have humility that adorns the doctrine, that says, “Salvation by grace”, not only with the mouth, but with the life, attitude, and spirit. Grace is graciously preached by gracious people. James reminds us, “Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show by good conduct that his works are done in the meekness of wisdom” (James 3:13).
Thirdly, if we get into the ark because of the flood, we shall live. Everyone who lives for King Jesus... not an act of faith, but a life of faith... shall be SAVED and rewarded eventually. Solomon writes, “surely I know that it shall be well with them that fear God, which fear before Him” (Eccl 8:11-12). It is hard now. The world lusts and enjoys fruition. The world GETS what it wants and lives by its own rules. But, we wait patiently, and the time is coming when the tables will turn. The Lord will BLESS us openly, and the Lord will show His hate to those in hell. No longer will men say, “God won't hate”, because they'll be in hell. But you, while their smoke ascends the furnace, shall be blessed, happy, and REWARDED richly for suffering here, “for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and His wife has made herself ready” (Rev 19:4-7). It is a little longer, and this indignation of man will pass and God's wrath will win.
Lastly, don't be outside the ark; it is room enough for you now.
