Heshimu, Jamel and Dominic accompanied me yesterday at my stepdad's funeral. I'm thankful to have had these dear brethren there with me. I'm also thankful that we were able to use the moment as an evangelistic endeavor. Heshimu preached a clear Gospel message, and many people expressed interest in coming to visit The Gospel Church. Please remember to keep future visitors in prayer. Let's also consider ourselves, asking God to continually bless us with an increase in faithfulness, as a local congregation. Our worship matters. As Jamel read scripture and prayed, and as Heshimu preached, those in attendance were able to get a glimpse of how we worship at the Gospel Church in Sunnyvale - not only the soundness of doctrine, but also the demeanor of sobriety, love, warmth and reverence for God. I believe that these qualities shone through, by God's Spirit, and as a result, many of those people are interested.
I'm thankful that my family and friends, as well as my stepdad's buddies, were able to hear The Gospel - many for the first time ever. The solemn moment was used rightly, as intended by God in Ecclesiastes 7:2-5. People were confronted with serious things to consider: God... the frailty and brevity of our earthly existence...death...eternity...judgment....and the Good News of redemption through Christ.
The whole scene was a reminder that nothing else in this world matters, but to know Christ, and to make Him known. Let us all be encouraged to devote ourselves wholeheartedly to The Lord, and do whatever we can for His Kingdom.
Love,
Librae
