What Must We Obey?

God clearly teaches that we're to obey Him, and we don't deny such plain statement of Scripture. The issue is "What must we obey?".

It is plain, we can't keep the law, and Christ died for His elect, redeeming us from iniquity. We are justified by faith in His obedience, declared right by God, and made able to receive everything Christ EARNED for us. This obedience of faith is the life of the redeemed (Rom 1:5). We hear Christ preached, and are bidden to believe. Most hate God and reject salvation in Christ unto obedience. They will not have His rule.

Yet, we are made to see ourselves so vile and hell-deserving, so sure of death eternal, that we RUN to Jesus Christ, continually, believing on Him. I would not put a thing that I've done before God's lofty throne for MERIT, that would damn me, and Christ profits me nothing (Gal 5:2-4).

Yet, being JUSTIFIED by faith and pleasing to Him, and because I believe I'm saved COMPLETELY by Christ, my bodies a living sacrifice to glorify God (Rom 12:1-2). It isn't merely that God says He gets the glory, but now, as believers, we agree with Him, so much, that we live to honor His name, spread the gospel, and save the elect. We live to be transformed into His image in the home, church, job, private time, and we war against Satan's wiles, standing in the Spirit's power (Rom 8:13).  Believing that He loves us, as the sinners that we are, He strengthens us to obey Him in how we live, working in us. Grace is the means, obedience of faith is how it comes, and good works are the result.

Like all believers, we live godly:
1. For the glory of God, to show the world His greatness, that His name be honored and people love Him, being spared damnation.
2. For our own happiness. Sin is misery for the church, we are not like the world who sins ignorantly and without condemnation in conscience. I exhort people to obey the gospel, to walk by faith, and to get off your knees believing the same God that you just confessed and obtained mercy from, to live for His honor.

When He saved you, He commissioned you. He told you, “Neither do I condemn you: go, and sin no more” (John 8:11).  Therefore, in no condemnation, with the help of God and pardon of all things, He wants us to live better, holy, godly, and upright lives, repenting daily of the flesh, and yet putting it to death and subduing it - “For if you live after the flesh, you shall die: but if you through the Spirit do put to death the deeds of the body, you shall live“ (Rom 8:13).

If we believe all that God says, not a part, then we do honor Him more than if we believe a part.

Take all that He says and areas of misery and vanity will be healed, life will be better in the Spirit, and your Beloved will be near. The command to believe and repent KEEPS Christ near,  and we walk uprightly as the fruit of communion and to maintain it, as you see in Song of Solomon. He both COMES to us and causes us to GET UP and come to Him, and we obey willingly.
