“Surely Put to Death” (Numb 35:29-34)

“So these things shall be for a statute of judgment to you throughout your generations in all your dwellings. Whoever kills any person, the murderer shall be put to death by the mouth of witnesses: but one witness shall not testify against any person to cause him to die. Moreover you shall take no satisfaction for the life of a murderer, which is guilty of death: but he shall be surely put to death. And you shall take no satisfaction for him that is fled to the city of his refuge, that he should come again to dwell in the land, until the death of the priest. So you shall not pollute the land wherein you are: for blood it defiles the land: and the land cannot be cleansed of the blood that is shed therein, but by the blood of him that shed it. Defile not therefore the land which you shall inhabit, wherein I dwell: for I the LORD dwell among the children of Israel.” (vs29-34)

There must be punishment of sin, or God LOSES His justice in the universe. If God pardons but doesn’t punish, then He isn’t just. If He forgives without Christ-crucified, then He is no better than the sinner himself. God MUST punish our sins in Christ, and He must PUNISH all who don’t have Christ.  If you have Christ, then your punishment is over; Christ DIED for you. If you don’t have Christ, then your punishment STARTS when you leave this planet. No matter what you experience here, it will be all the good that you experience forever - the last smile, the last moment of peace, and the last HOPEFUL thought takes place on this side of yonder Judgment, and then, it is only death and misery for you. The next day in hell will not be better than the previous one, ever… the next moment will not be better than the last, and you’ll have no hope of change, only pain, misery, and regret, forever.

God is JUSTIFYING sinners, declaring us righteous and making us so, by faith in Jesus’ blood.  Are you?  Are you right with God?
