“Plague is Begun” (Numb 16:44-48)

“And Moses said to Aaron, Take a censer, and put fire therein from off the altar, and put on incense, and go quickly to the congregation, and make an atonement for them: for there is wrath gone out from the LORD; the plague is begun. And Aaron took as Moses commanded, and ran into the middle of the congregation; and, behold, the plague was begun among the people: and he put on incense, and made an atonement for the people. And he stood between the dead and the living; and the plague was stayed.”  (vs46-48)

Atonement is the only appeasement of wrath, and here we SEE Christ, according to the law of Moses, interceding for transgressors, sinners who would kill Him.  He doesn’t mediate for all men, for all are not saved, but He DOES mediate for rebels and God-hating sinners, saving us from sin.

I deserve death, but I GET life through Christ’s atonement for me, whereby He intercedes to God on my behalf by the blood He shed for God to bless me as He has promised. Christ has EARNED good things for bad people, even the worst.  Ps 68 says, “You have ascended on high, you have led captivity captive: you have received GIFTS for men; yes, for the rebellious also, that the Lord God might dwell among them”.  That we might be blessed of God, Christ ascended God’s right hand to GIVE us repentance and the Spirit, sending the gift of the Spirit by the blood He shed to save His people (Ps 68:18-19).

Do not fear that you can’t be blessed, but know it is mercy, if you turn to Christ now, because there are many who die in their sin.  All are not saved, but all who are saved get LIFE for sins, rather than death from God.
