“But the soul that eats of the flesh of the sacrifice of the peace offerings, that pertain unto the Lord, having his uncleanness upon him, even that soul shall be cut off from his people” (vs20).
We have no peace with God, except through the cleansing that’s in Christ. You can’t have peace on your terms, no matter how GOOD you feel, so the peace offering must be eaten by faith in the gospel, that we have peace by believing the work of Christ in paying for sins.
Here, we see that salvation is BY knowledge; it is not a feeling or experience only; it is the TRUTH of God’s grace revealed to us by the scriptures, so that we worship God in spirit (by faith) and in truth (by the word, exactly). God is NOT interested in peace on any terms other than the death of Christ, and if He is not your peace, then God DOES NOT accept your joy in Him - “Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ”, and again, “For [Christ] is our peace” (Rom 5:1; Eph 2:14)). He will destroy all for whom Christ didn’t die, all who ADD anything to the blood for peace. You and I are SAVED as sinners by faith in Christ’s work, and we have peace thereby, or we are lost.
