“I Command You” (Acts 16:18)
“But Paul, being grieved, turned and said to the spirit, I command you in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her. And he came out the same hour” (vs18).
Authority is from Jesus the Lord. He is the preacher’s right to command; it is not in my name or piety, but it is in the name of Jesus Christ, by His resurrection power and authority, that I command you to believe God, because He has CROWN rights over you, having ascended God’s right hand, victorious in saving strength, having cast out Satan by REMITTING the sins of His church.
Resist Him no longer. He will love you home to heaven, or He will damn you forever in hell. He will bless you, or you and I must live OUTSIDE of God forever.
Believe the gospel of Christ, and don’t hesitate or yield to Satan; believe and live.
Progressive Sanctification (John 17:17)
“Sanctify them through your truth: your word is truth” (vs17)
We GROW in sanctification; it is not like justification. Justification is once and for all times, righteous before God by faith in Jesus’ blood. Sanctification is immediate, but we grow in it. I do not become MORE righteous before God, but I do grow in faith, hope, love, holiness. My PERFECTION in Christ cannot improve, but my love and character grow, by the word. Therefore, it is imperative to GROW by the gospel, and knowing this is how we grow, we seek the word, and He feeds us, causing us to desire and also be helped by what we hear.
Thank God for the gospel by using it in your life to be a BETTER person and more FRUITFUL believer. Honor Him more.
