“When the ear heard me, then it blessed me; and when the eye saw me, it gave witness to me: because I delivered the poor that cried, and the fatherless, and him that had none to help him”.
Instead of man, give glory to God. Honor those who teach the gospel, but exalt and worship God only.
I read something recently that spoke of a woman worshiping the smoke that came from her pastor’s chimney, and this idolatry exists with us. We are PRONE to be sinfully idolatrous or SINFULLY rebellious, either way, it is not faith and love.
Esteem God’s messengers and use them for good, but don’t idolize any. Learn what you can and PERFECT yourself with God, but don’t stop at worshiping or honoring men ABOVE God.
We have God to worship and no one else, so God’s word and Person is above all else. This will tell you and me if we RIGHTLY hear the gospel preachers: (1) Do we worship God by their message and example? (2) Do we love them for it?
