Betrayers (John 12:4-6)

“Then said one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, which should betray him, Why was not this ointment sold for three hundred pence, and given to the poor? This he said, not that he cared for the poor; but because he was a thief, and had the bag, and bore what was put therein.”(vs4-6)

Betrayers are in our midst. Some are ungodly among the saints, posing as godly, pretending love to Christ, but they only want their OWN name and agenda (3 John 9). These sinners lay wait, but eventually, SELF-service and self-glory creep out, and they’re exposed (1 Tim 5:24-25). They hate the doctrine of godliness, that by way of the cross and Christ’s obedience, God GIVES us godliness that we’re to walk in. People hate the covenant, and they HATE Jesus Christ, that glory goes only to Him. They hate His name, hate His exaltation, would stand in His place, take some of His shine away, and CONTINUALLY war against His permanent exaltation in all things (Luke 18:14). This FLESH pretends to love God, but when opportunity comes, when it appears that serving Christ will not make me happy, then the sinner shows what he was always: a devil in disguise, gathered among the sheep, and soon to be in hell with Satan (Matt 25:41). Don’t be fooled. Judas’ are here still in most every church of any size. They come, they go. They give, preach, talk, and smile. You cannot perceive them until they reveal themselves openly. It is not ours to find them; it is ours to DEMAND the glorification of Christ and uphold the standard of Christ. This will flush them out eventually (Acts 5:33).
