Worthy is the Lamb that Was Slain (Rev 5:12)

“Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honor, and glory, and blessing”.

I see in the extent of the atonement and the sufferings of Christ, how much God GAVE UP to save me and how much Christ ENDURED in love, and I see God’s love for me great and wide.

He can love sinners and cleanse us at the same time; He can REPROVE those He loves, and yet in gentleness He leads us. He can be stern, but beneath all of His words, if I receive them, is LOVE everlasting that slaughtered Christ for me (Rev 5:12; Heb 10:19-20). This is not a god of my making, but a God whose love is FOR us, if we will but take and bask in it, no matter what.

You cannot change your nature, conquer your lusts, or do anything good apart from God’s ELECTING love. Receive it. Receive the grace of God in its wideness for you, so that you can have joy to serve in fear and trembling (Ps 2:11). Obey the good will of God to spare yourself the shame of sin; Christ is better than any other course of life. He says, “Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him” (Prov 30:5). He will care for us better than sin. Thus, we choose God over this world.
