“And it shall come to pass, that as you were a curse among the heathen, O house of Judah, and house of Israel; so will I save you, and you shall be a blessing: fear not, but let your hands be strong.”
Read: Zech 8:9-15
First, be encouraged in the salvation God gives, because it is not up to you. He says, “so will I save you” (vs13). God’s power isn’t based on us, but when we’re WEAK, He is strength - (II Cor 12:9) “And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for you; for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.”
He saves whom He will, and He has chosen you. If you believe, then you’re loved eternally in election, blessed, and everything’s for you. You and I have all that we need.
Unbelief says, “It’s not in Christ, so I’ll get it elsewhere. I’ll use my strength”. Faith says, “It is in Christ, it is mine, and it shall be as God says”. Paul told his shipmates, “I believe God”, and before that he said, “be of good cheer: for I believe God, that is shall be even as it was told me” (Acts 27:25). They had squandered God’s gospel and gotten trouble in the process (Acts 27:11-20). But now, in saving love, God has revealed His will for them, which is LIFE instead of death.
Secondly, everything that God has for us, He has the right to give, but He gives it His way. Just as the people had to STAY in the ship, even so, we must REMAIN in Christ and believe God. God has put conditions on us, too, but the CONDITION is faith - (John 3:14-15) “And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: that whosoever BELIEVES in him should not perish, but have eternal life.”
If we have faith, then we have God to do what He said. Abraham couldn’t have children, but by FAITH, he received strength from God who’d promised - Now Abraham and Sarah were old and well stricken in age; and it ceased to be with Sarah after the manner of women. Therefore Sarah laughed within herself, saying, After I am waxed old shall I have pleasure, my lord being old also? And the LORD said to Abraham, Why did Sarah laugh, saying, Shall I of a surety bear a child, which am old? Is any thing too hard for the LORD? At the time appointed I will return to you, according to the time of life, and Sarah shall have a son. (Gen 18:11-14). Sarah couldn’t bare seed, but she was strengthened by faith, glorified God, and had the joy of laughter!
Lastly, God’s salvation is GOD-DEPENDENT, not CO-DEPENDENT on us. God says, “You shall be a blessing”, and He does it Himself (vs13).
