“And the Lord spoke unto the fish, and it vomited out Jonah upon the dry land”.
Believers, no matter what, have no condemnation from God, and He uses the pain of this life to teach valuable lessons, that Christ is all, and we shall do His will (II Cor 4:17-18).
Salvation, God’s revelation of acceptance in Christ, after the vanity and pain of sin, is the REVELATION God uses to turn our hearts to Him and cause us to serve Christ.
Jonah tried his will, but it failed miserably and painfully – “Now the Lord had prepared a great fish to swallow up Jonah. And Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights (Jonah 1:17). Now, he will do what God says, being confident in salvation. Now, Jonah believes the Lord will give him grace to live as commanded, even as grace removed the transgressions and consequences from Jonah.
Jonah believed God, and believing God, no matter what, we are saved (Luke 8:50). He is not AGAINST but for us.
If you will live for God’s glory, then be saved as a sinner and delivered from the pain that you’ve brought upon yourself. Now, you and I see why we’re here, which is to live so that He would be praised, rather than self.
God saves us to make us saviors, and we will exalt the gospel, or we will suffer the frustration of self. We, like John, are sent from God “to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe”, and this is why we live (John 1:7). Thankfully, God shows us this message repeatedly with no condemnation, forgiveness, grace, and everything necessary to live godly.
We prove the sincerity of our love by giving, even as God gave Himself for us, so we GIVE ourselves for Him (II Cor 8:8). This is the salvation He gives us.
