“Thus speaks the LORD of hosts, saying, Execute true judgment, and show mercy and compassions every man to his brother: And oppress not the widow, nor the fatherless, the stranger, nor the poor; and let none of you imagine evil against his brother in your heart.”
First, if we want God’s blessing, then we do what God says do. We don’t follow religion, man’s ways, or any other thing. We follow the GOSPEL of Jesus Christ.
The blood has availed with God, so we are TO LOVE each other. Reconciliation is accomplished by Christ, and we don’t have to CARRY THE PAST and mourn and mourn over past failures – “Hearken to me, you that follower after righteousness, ye that seek the Lord: look unto the rock whence you are hewn, and to the hole of the pit whence you are digged. Look unto Abraham your father, and unto Sarah that bare you: for I called him alone, and blessed him, and increased him. for the Lord shall comfort Zion: he will comfort all her waste places; and he will make her wilderness like Eden, and her desert like the garden of the Lord; joy and gladness shall be found therein, thanksgiving, and the voice of melody” (Is 51:1-3). You and I are free, and we’re to love people as the expression of the freedom that we’ve received.
Secondly, people are into “touch not; taste not; handle not” religion, “which all are to perish with the using; after the commandments of men” (Col 2:21-22). We honor God by RECEIVING the blood of Christ’s sufficiency in reconciliation. He has no need of our grief or begging; He needs what He’s gotten, which is Jesus Christ, the Son, giving His all to God on behalf of His people, according to promise – Speak unto all the people of the land, and to the priests, saying, When you fasted and mourned in the fifth and seventh month, even those seventy years, did you at all fast unto me, even to me? And when you did eat, and when you did drink, did not you eat for yourselves, and drink for yourselves? (Zech 7:5-6).
Thirdly, since God is SATISFIED with Christ, we show our SATISFACTION by walking as He commanded, doing good to the afflicted (Zech 7:9-10). The poor are helped and instructed, widows are cared for, the fatherless are encouraged, and sinners obtain mercy and compassion from us – “Only they would that we should remember the poor; the same which I also was forward to do” (Gal 2:10).
We carry a sword for protection, but it isn’t for attack and hate – “Then said he unto them, But now, he that has a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that has no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one. For I say unto you, that this that is written must ye be accomplished in me, And he was reckoned among the transgressors: for the things concerning me have an end” (Luke 22:36-37). We DEFEND ourselves, but we love those that we must slay, being willing to receive them into church membership, if possible.
Yes, you’ve spent your time MAKING UP for what you’ve done. You’ve mourned and complained. You’ve tried FEASTING and laughter, living as if everything is ok and you have it controlled. But, God plays no part in religious falsehood. He will have you believe and love – “And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment” (I John 3:23).
Lastly, if you’re able to love, it is because faith is real. Concentrate on your BLESSINGS, so you can be a blessing too (Zech 3:7).
